Tour Overview
This 3 day Lake Tyrrell photography experience takes you into the heart of Victoria’s most surreal pink salt lake, where mirrored water, winter pastels and some of Australia’s darkest skies create the perfect environment for sunrise, sunset and astro photography.
Across the weekend, you will master low-light shooting, capture the Milky Way reflected in shallow winter water, explore unique foreground textures, and photograph the iconic painted silos under starlight. With expert guidance in the field and a dedicated editing session, you will build a strong, cohesive set of images you are truly proud of.

Hey, I'm JOSH BEAMES
An Australian landscape photographer proudly sponsored by Nikon. For more than a decade I’ve travelled across deserts, salt lakes, Iceland, Norway, the Outback, Canada and the Arctic, chasing bold light and dramatic landscapes.
Shooting the night sky was the first thing that made me fall in love with photography. I spent countless nights learning how to focus in the dark, capture the Milky Way, and make the most of Australia’s incredible skies. It’s still one of my favourite things to shoot, and Lake Tyrrell is one of the best places in the country to do it.
During this Lake Tyrrell Astro, Sunrise & Sunset Workshop, I’ll guide you through everything from clean Milky Way captures and perfect reflections to minimalist salt-lake compositions, sunrise pastels, and creative low-light shooting. You’ll learn real-world techniques you can apply immediately, with hands-on support at every session.
My goal is simple: to help you capture Lake Tyrrell’s surreal light, reflections and night sky in their most powerful moments and return home with images you’re genuinely proud of.
